Second Life: More virtual world property disputes
Canadian courts see breach of contract claim for activities in Second Life
I was typing in "murder" trying (so far unsuccessfully) to hunt down a lead for a Second Life incident sometime back in which executive business type avatars were "killed" by a car crashing into the board of directors meeting. My goal was to explore the story and press coverage, and to engage in a discussion of ethics.
Seems "loss of an avatar" in which one has invested would most likely be treated as a virtual property claim and not a "criminal" action....but perhaps there are other interesting causes of action as rights seem to be extended into virtual creations and relations in virtual worlds.
